Housing stock transferred - see below for who now acts as landlord

The predecessor Newbury District Council transferred its full housing stock of around 7,100 homes to the newly-formed West Berkshire Housing Association in 1989, one of the earliest large-scale voluntary transfers in the country; that association was renamed Sovereign Housing Association in 1994 and, following a 2023 merger with Network Homes, is now part of Sovereign Network Group (SNG) - West Berkshire Council itself holds no housing stock
