Canterbury City Council retains its own housing stock; leasehold services were delivered via the East Kent Housing (EKH) ALMO until the council took back direct control on 1 October 2020, when EKH was dissolved and each of its four member councils (Canterbury, Dover, Folkestone & Hythe, and Thanet) set up its own in-house housing service
